Mr A Hemmings


Andrew was appointed Principal at the opening of The Bushey Academy in September 2009. He was previously Deputy Headteacher of the ‘Outstanding’ Cleeve School in Cheltenham where he spent five years away from Hertfordshire. Andrew trained to teach at Brighton University, following a brief start in industry, and was awarded the NPQH during his time at Freman College in 2004.

Andrew joined the Bushey Academy in September 2011. Prior to teaching he served as a police officer with Surrey Constabulary for a number of years, working as a detective in various specialised fields. He completed his initial teacher training at Parmiter's School in Garston and then subsequently worked as an English teacher at St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood for 7 years. Andrew has an English and History degree from Keele University, and also a Masters degree in Education.

Misha’al joined The Bushey Academy in January 2010. Before this, she was School Manager and a member of the Senior Management team at the ‘Outstanding’ Canons High School in Harrow, for a period of over 10 years. Prior to working in schools, Misha’al worked for the National Council for Vocational Qualifications, developing NVQs and GNVQs, and for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority developing occupational standards for NVQs. Misha’al’s post graduate is in business and management, she has an in depth understanding of business and accounting principles, with practical experience gained through the joint management of a successful family run business before entering into the education sector.

Ian joined the Academy in September 2016. Prior to joining the teaching profession, Ian worked as a Football Development Officer working with and playing for the Bushey Rangers FC. Ian completed his training as a PE teacher at Parmiters School in 2002 before joining Cavendish School in Hemel Hempstead. He has since held Assistant Principal roles at both Cavendish and Queens' School. Ian has an Honours degree in Sport and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership.
