Anjana Ahuja – Speakers for Schools

This week Anjana Ahuja, contributing science writer for the Financial Times visited the academy to talk to year 7 about a career in journalism. She talked about her favourite story, the discovery of a fossil of a 570 million year old “blob”-like creature, fossilised in sandstone. This story seemed part investigative journalism and part 1950’s B-movie! Anjana also talked about how she made her way into journalism and the resilience required. There were lessons on how to embrace failure and Anjana also talked about her experiences of being an ethnic minority in a mostly white school.

The question and answer session at the end of the assembly showed how engaged the students had been.
