MEDIA STUDIES

GCSE

Students will study four key areas of Media:

  • Language
  • ┬áRepresentation
  • Industries
  • Audience.

Using this framework, students will explore a range of Media products from the following Media forms:

  • Audio Visual
  • Online
  • Print

Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding through practical analysis or creation of products through contexts which cover social, cultural, historical and/or political aspects.

PEARSON (EDEXCEL)

Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Creative Digital Media Production

Single Award equivalent in size to one A Level

This qualification provides coherent introduction to the study of creative digital media production at this level. Learners develop an understanding of the media industry through analysing representations and pitching and producing media products.

It is designed for post-16 learners who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment, possibly in the media industries, as part of a programme of study alongside other BTEC Nationals or A Levels

PEARSON (EDEXCEL)

Level 3 National Diploma in Film and Television Production

Double Award equivalent in size to two A Levels

This qualification is designed to give learners a technical understanding of film and television production. Learners gain knowledge and skills in areas such as single-and multi-camera techniques, lighting, sound recording and editing to produce practical film and television projects.

The qualification is for post-16 learners and is intended as a two year programme of study, normally in conjunction with one or more qualifications at Level 3. It is aimed at students looking to progress to employment in this sector.
